This DIY Gingerbread house wreath was created last year but never made it out of my camera gallery or blog drafts. So, I'm sharing it with you this year, just in time to start decorating for the holidays! I love the sweet look of the gingerbread houses tucked in the greenery and amongst the twinkly fairy lights. It's an easy but stunning Christmas craft!

DIY Gingerbread House Wreath
Supplies:
Directions:
Lay out newspaper or plastic and paint your wooden houses brown to resemble gingerbread houses. This took 2 coats for me to look the best.
Once they are dry, you can use the white puffy paint to create "gingerbread" designs on them.
My wreath took 8 houses but you could do more or less houses to create the look you like the best.

Once your houses are fully dry (I waited overnight) you can use the hot glue gun to glue your houses on. Decide which way you want your wreath to hang, make sure to do your fluffing beforehand. I like to place my houses and rearrange them as needed before gluing them into place. That way I can make sure I like the placement.

Once all the houses are how you like them and glued in place, flip your wreath over and glue the battery pack of the mini fairy lights to the back, it should be hidden. Make sure that you don't glue it in a way that you can't slide open the battery compartment. Twist your fairy lights in between the branches and houses. Viola! Enjoy your gingerbread house wreath for years to come. I keep mine inside to help it last longer but I think this could be pretty on a front door or window.
You could also add some velvet ribbon to the top or bottom of your wreath. I bought some ribbon and thought about it but in the end decided I liked the more simple look of the houses and lights.
